- Gets a bunch of cosmetic updates
- Gets a raft of new technologies
The Volkswagen Passat facelift has just been revealed. On the outside, its a subtle change that includes new bumpers front and rear, a revised Passat rear logo, along with redesigned LED head- and tail-light units.
But the important changes lie skin-deep. The Passat now gets the IQ Drive driver assitance and active safety suite which are basically autonomous drive functions. According to the company, the Passat is the first model in its range to offer partially automated driving across practically the whole speed range, combining the adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping systems to form Travel Assist. Inside, the Passat gets a range of new appointments, including a new range of trims and finishers, an updated version of the company's Active Info Display, and an upgraded infotainment system.
On the engine front, the GTE Hybrid gets an upgraded 13kWh battery for better range along with 2-litre petrol and 2-litre diesel in two different states of tunes. All versions come as standard with permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive, mated to a seven-speed DSG.
It will be a while before the updated Passat makes its way to India, however once it does expect the autonomous technology bundle and all-wheel drive to be missing.
