In an effort to further strengthen its foothold in the UK market, Volkswagen retailers are now accepting orders for four new petrol engine options in the Passat and the Tiguan model ranges. The four new petrol engines are - 1.4-litre TSI which generates 122 bhp of power, 1.4-litre TSI with Active Cylinder technology that generates 145bhp of power, 1.8-litre TSI that generates 175bhp of power and a 2.0-litre TSI engine that generates 214bhp of power.
Interestingly, this time around Volkswagen has offered a sporty R-Line trim with the entry-level 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine that generates 145bhp of power. The fresh revision allows buyers with budget constraints to opt for the more stylish and sporty R-Line variant. Six-speed manual and seven-speed automatic transmission option is offered across the new petrol engine options. The Tiguan is limited to 1.4-litre TSI and 1.4-litre TSI ACT engine options, while the Passat Saloon and the Passat Estate are available in all engine options.
Speaking about the new petrol engines, Wes Withey, Volkswagen UK Product Marketing Manager, said, “Adding petrol engine options to our popular Passat family, in particular, is a great step forward. Powerful, refined and frugal – these new petrol units make the Passat more accessible in terms of price, as well as further broadening the cars’ already extensive appeal.”
