Spy shots of the Volkswagen NMC (new midsize coupe) appeared on the internet, soon after its debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Designed to appeal to those who find VW-badged sedans to be plain boring, the new midsize coupe, as seen in these latest spy shots, looks sporty yet elegant at the same time.
From the looks of it, even the production-spec sits relatively low and wide on the ground as compared to something like a Passat. The muscular shoulder line and swept-back C-pillars further highlight the car’s coupe-like profile.
According to the report, the production-spec NMC will make its debut during the Guangzhou Auto Show in December, before going on sale in China just before end of the year. The car is expected to be powered by a range of TSI petrol engines mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It will be manufactured in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture.
Despite its striking design and practical nature, there is very little chance of the Volkswagen NMC coming to India since the market here for a sporty four-door sedan is pretty much unexplored at the moment.
