Volkswagen NMC (new mid-size coupe) gets leaked

Volkswagen showcased the NMC (New Mid-size Coupe) earlier this year at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Since then, the car has been actively doing rounds in the Chinese media. The car, in fact, has been developed specifically for China and is designed to appeal to those who fancy a sporty looking sedan.   

The car has been spotted on test already and now, what appears to be the official press image has been leaked. The NMC is a sportier looking version of the Jetta which is sold as ‘Sagitar’ in China. The production-spec model is expected to make its debut during the Guangzhou Auto Show in December, before going on sale in China early next year.  

The NMC will be powered by a range of TSI petrol engines mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It will be manufactured in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture. Built to suit the needs of Chinese buyers, the NMC will be sold only in China for now, which means chances of this model heading to other markets are looking a bit bleak at the moment.
