Volkswagen has launched the facelifted version of the Jetta in South Africa, with prices starting at R 258,000 (Rs 13.93 lakh), going all the way till R 358,000 (Rs 19.33 lakh). The conservatively styled D-segment offering is due for launch in India sometime next year.
In terms of exterior design upgrades, the facelifted Jetta features a revised grille, front bumper and new headlights with LED daytime running lights and optional bi-xenon adaptive technology. The rear, meanwhile, benefits from a redesigned pair of taillights and bumper. According to Volkswagen, these design upgrades have improved the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency by up to 10 per cent.
Inside, there’s a new flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel and new seat fabrics. The overall dashboard, however, remains the same. The drive-train, too, is carried over from the pre-facelift model with a choice of three turbo petrol and two diesel engines.
Volkswagen India is expected to launch the facelifted Jetta sometime next year. The India-spec model is likely to benefit from majority of these upgrades. When launched, the new Jetta will share market space with other D-segment sedan offerings including the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Hyundai Elantra.
