The Volkswagen Jetta has received the TNS Voice of the customer award in the premium midsize segment. The TNS Total Customer Satisfaction Study covered 63 car models across all passenger car segments, with a sample size of more than 8,000 car owners across 28 cities in India.
Out of the various categories of evaluation, the Volkswagen Jetta received an upper edge over its competitors in the areas like quality, brand image, sales and after-sales service and cost of ownership.
The D1 segment in India where the Jetta is positioned is not one that sees high sales figures. Tough competition from the likes of Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Elantra along with segment overlap from the D2 segment has taken its toll on the sales figures of the car. The introduction of the Skoda Octavia is likely to further hinder its popularity, and VW will need to up the ante for the Jetta beyond just customer satisfaction in order to stay afloat in the market.
