Volkswagen will launch the facelifted Jetta in India on February 17 at an event in Mumbai. This latest D-Segment offering from the German carmaker gets mild revisions to distinguish it from the version currently on sale.
The revised Jetta doesn't get a comprehensive makeover but small changes that give the conservatively styled car a fresh look. The updates come in the form of new headlamps, refreshed grille, redesigned front bumper and rectangular fog lamps. The headlights might come with LED daytime running lights and optional bi-xenon adaptive technology. The design of the alloy wheels has been tweaked slightly, while revised tail lamps and a modified bumper can be seen at the back.
The revisions will extend to the cabin, the most evident one being the new flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel. The layout of the dashboard remains the same, but there are enhancements like a chrome embellishment for the instrument cluster, new climate control functions, ambient lighting and revised AC vents. The centre console and the gearshift surround might come in a piano black finish and the seat fabric pattern will be changed to give a more premium feel to an owner.
The refreshed Jetta is expected to be powered by the same engine options available at present. The 1.4-litre petrol TSI engine produces 138bhp of power and 200Nm of torque, and the 2.0-litre diesel TDI mill churns out 148bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The transmission options are also expected to continue, meaning, the six-speed manual will be available for both as well as the DSG for the diesel.
Volkswagen's revamped Jetta will be sold as a CKD unit and prices are expected to start at Rs 13 lakh. The luxury sedan will go up against the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Hyundai Elantra in the D-segment of cars in India.
