Volkswagen's Jetta will soon be launched with revisions to the exterior setting it apart from the current version. A facelifted version of the car was spotted taking rounds in India without any disguise. The new Jetta was showcased at the 2014 New York Motor show and looks similar to the Passat now.
In terms of appearance, the Jetta sports new headlamps, refreshed grille, redesigned front bumper and rectangular fog lamps. At the back, newly designed tail lamps and a modified bumper can be seen. The design of the alloy wheels also has been tweaked slightly.
There might be slight changes in the cabin with the enhancements including an instrument cluster with chrome embellishment, a multi-function steering wheel and revised AC vents. The centre console and the gearshift surround might come in a piano black finish and other changes might include climate control functions, ambient lighting and a new fabric pattern for the seats.
The revamped Jetta is expected to be powered by the same engine options. The 1.4-litre petrol TSI engine churns out 138bhp of power and 200Nm of torque, and the 2.0-litre diesel TDI engine produces 148bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The transmission options are also expected to continue, meaning, the six-speed manual will be available for both as well as the DSG for the diesel.
This revamped version of the Jetta will be just a mid-life refresh and not a complete overhauled model. The current car on sale is based on the PQ71 platform and the facelift will also use the same. It is the next-gen vehicle that will shift to the MQB platform but it will take time to come to India. This facelifted model is expected to be launched soon and will be sold as a CKD unit. It will go up against the refreshed Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia and the Chevrolet Cruze in the Indian market.
