To improve their hybrid line-up in their current stable, VW India is expected to bring in the new Passat GTE which is slated to come to Indian showrooms before the end of 2017.
The Passat GTE is a plug-in hybrid that’s powered by an electric motor coupled to a TSI engine which will be capable of delivering Euro six emission norms. The 1.4-liter TSI engine will be used in this application and VW claims a combined power output of 218bhp and 400Nm of torque and this mill will be mated to a six-speed DSG transmission. The impressive part about the Passat GTE is that it can cover 50km using electric power alone, has an overall range of 1,000km and can do speeds of up to 130kmph in the economy mode.
