Volkswagen India has showcased the Tiguan SUV at the Auto Expo in Delhi and added that the car is expected to roll into Indian showrooms by the end of the fiscal year.
The new Tiguan originally made its premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 and is based on the MQB platform. This SUV is larger than the outgoing model in overall size; its 70mm longer, 30.5mm wider, and 76mm longer in wheelbase. VW’s new vehicle will offer features like an eight-inch touchscreen entertainment system, three-zone automatic AC, seven airbags, 4MOTION all-wheel drive, and a panoramic sunroof.
The new Tiguan boasts of an all new design, better equipment and its introduction into the Indian market will mean VW's entry into the compact SUV segment in India. The VW Tiguan is expected to be available in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims. It will eventually lock horns with segment contenders like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 in the Rs 28 lakh to Rs 38 lakh price bracket.
