- Volkswagen Group claims the top position with 10.83 million unit sales in 2018
- Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi has claimed the second position with 10.76 million units sold in 2018
Volkswagen group has retained the top spot in global auto sales with 10.83 million units sold in 2018. The group comprises of Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti, Skoda and Lamborghini. Together they have witnessed a growth of 0.8 per cent as compared to 2017 with 10.76 million unit sales. The Renault Nissan-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance has witnessed a growth of 1.4 per cent with 10.76 million vehicles sold as compared to 10.61 million units sold in 2017.
The third position is taken by Lexus and Daihatsu with 10.59 million unit sales in 2018 as compared to 10.38 million units sold globally in 2017. The overall growth stands close to two per cent. Despite ending its operation in India, General Motors stood fourth with over eight million units sold in 2018 followed by Hyundai group in the fifth position with 7.4 million vehicle sales globally.
Other brands including BMW group, Mercedes-Benz, Ford and Honda have emerged among the top 10 most selling auto brands for 2018.
