The Volkswagen Group has posted a high sales number this year. The company delivered 5.04 million vehicles to customers from January to June 2015.
The Group brands include Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini and commercial vehicles including brands Scania and MAN. These collectively helped the brand achieve this feat. The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 2.95 million vehicles to customers worldwide, while the premium brand Audi handed over 9,02,400 cars to consumers. In the first half of 2015, the sports car manufacturer Porsche delivered a total of 1,14,000 vehicles and the Czech brand ŠKODA delivered 5,44,300 vehicles in the same period. The Spanish car manufacturer SEAT's sales stood at 2,16,500 units.
Volkswagen's commercial vehicles department also showed a growth by delivering 2,23,000 vehicles during the same period. The MAN brand delivered 49,900 units from January to June, while the Swedish brand Scania delivered 37,000 heavy trucks and buses to customers in the same period.
Christian Klingler, Group Board Member for Sales, said, "Overall, Volkswagen Group brands recorded satisfactory development in the first half of the year in what has in some cases been a difficult market environment. Developments in South America and Russia remain tense, as do conditions in China, where growth on the overall market has been shrinking steadily since the beginning of this year and became negative in June for the first time in several years. As the market leader, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand in particular was not immune to these changes currently affecting the market."
While Volkswagen Group India's development prospects are not available yet, the global sales have seen a good growth despite some tense conditions abroad. The German manufacturer had delivered up to 4.2 million vehicles from January to May 2015 and in the next month managed to cross the five million sales landmark.
