Volkswagen, as we know, is among the biggest automakers in the world. So big, in fact, that it has delivered over 5.08 million vehicles to customers worldwide, since the start of 2014. The Germany-based automaker has achieved this feat for the first time.
Volkswagen has delivered 5.08 million vehicles from January to October 2014. Compare that to 4.95 million units sold during the same period last year and you will find that the brand has reported an increase in sales of about 2.6 per cent.
According to Christian Klingler, board member of sales and marketing for the Volkswagen Group, the brand is looking forward to delivering more than 6 million vehicles annually for the first time. Here in the Indian market, Volkswagen has had a tough time competing with many established rivals including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda and the likes. However, the company has been rather active lately with new launches and updates.
While the updated versions of the Polo and the Vento have been doing well in the premium hatchback and sedan segments respectively, the upcoming new Passat, which is headed here next year, holds a lot of promise in the premium end of the market.
