The Volkswagen CrossBlue SUV has been spotted testing in a near production guise in the US. It was unveiled as a concept car at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and when launched will slot in as a new model between the Tiguan and the Touraeg in the VWs hierarchy.
Our sources say that this car is sporting fake badging and a non-standard fascia. It also appears slightly different from the test vehicle we saw in China. However, the silhouette matches the concept car indicating the vehicle’s origins. Also, the rear of the vehicle matches VW’s current design philosophy which includes the tail lamps, multi-level design for the boot door and bash plate element.
There are no clear pictures of the cabin but given that this is a VW, we expect that a lot of the elements will be borrowed from the automaker’s current lineup. Standard features are expected to include three rows of seating, climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and electrically adjustable seats for the first row.
The engine line up will be a range of petrol and diesel engines though it seems possible that with the current issues that VW is facing, the oil burners may be launched at a later date. There will also be at least one hybrid variant which is likely to share a powertrain with the Passat GTE.
