Volkswagen India has announced a 17-city roadshow through which they will accept pre-launch bookings for their sub-4 metre sedan, the Ameo. Based on the Polo hatch, the Ameo is designed specifically by Volkswagen for Indian roads.
The roadshows will take place from 12 May, 2016 and go on till 2 July, 2016 working its way through 17 cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai and more. During these roadshows, customers will get an opportunity to experience the Ameo, explore its various features and make bookings. Along with the roadshow, Volkswagen will also be accepting bookings through their dealers with the car being available for preview on their website and mobile app.
The Ameo will be available with a choice of a three pot, 1.2L MPI petrol motor which makes 74bhp and 110Nm of torque or a 1.5L, four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor churning out 89bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox with a seven-speed DSG automatic being a possibility in the future.
Launched at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Ameo carries a lot of expectation on its shoulders as it enters the competitive compact sedan segment. Expect the Ameo to hit our roads within few weeks of its launch with the petrol cars being the first to roll off the line as we said earlier.
