The Los Angeles Motor Show saw two special editions of the Volkswagen Beetle, one was the Dune edition and the other a Denim edition. The latter is based on the 2016 Volkswagen Beetle and comes with a denim-inspired soft top. Till date, Volkswagen has introduced a number of 'Jeans' editions of the Beetle and this one also gets a cosmetic makeover in that fashion.
The Beetle Denim edition has been introduced in the rememberance of the 70's Jeans bug. The convertible sports a dark blue, textured fabric for the top resembling denim.
Volkswagen has not brought in major design changes to the Beetle Denim convertible, but just added a few elements to recreate the vintage charm.
Inside the cabin of the Denim edition, the seats are made of denim textured fabric. They also get jeans-inspired pockets.
The dual tone dashboard is finished in a light blue and silver colour. The typical Beetle elements are carried over.
An optional technology package adds a climatronic dual-zone automatic climate control system, a Fender premium audio system and a KESSY keyless access system.
The new music player is a MIB II infotainment system paired to a five-inch touch screen. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the hood of the Dune edition will be the same 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 170bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. This unit comes paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The new Denim edition will be available in pure white and stonewashed blue colour. Only 2,000 units of this trim will be made.
