Volkswagen India have teased their upcoming premium car – the 2016 Beetle – through a dedicated website. The new Beetle is expected to be launched in December and prospective customers can pre-book the car for a deposit of Rs 1 lakh.
The website also reveals the features and specifications of the new car that was unveiled globally back in 2012 as a concept. The new Beetle stays true to its bug roots with the signature round headlamps and a curvy face but now gets a slightly muscular look. It gets bi-xenon headlamps with daytime running lights and horizontal wrap around tail lamps. The Beetle now also comes with a spoiler as a standard fitment along with the 16-inch alloy wheels. The car is available in four colours – Orange, White, Red and Blue.
The Beetle will be available only in one trim and will get all premium features like dual-zone climate control, electric sunroof, push button start and an 8-speaker infotainment system. The instrument cluster is digital with an integrated multi-function display giving out all vitals. The upholstery is in leather and interiors also get multi-coloured ambient lighting. The front seats are height adjustable and have lumbar support and also can be heated.
The 2016 Beetle will be imported to India as a CBU and is expected to be priced at about Rs 25-30 lakh. It will compete with the Mini Cooper and the Abarth 595 in the Indian market.
