Volkswagen’s flagship sedan, the Arteon, has just gone on sale in the UK with prices starting from £34,305 (Rs 28.47 lakh) on-road. This new model comes with fastback styling and a brand new interior.
Sitting above the popular Passat in the Volkswagen range, the new Arteon brings more space and greater levels of autonomy into the mix. With a length of 4,862mm, width of 1,871mm and a height of 1,450mm the Arteon is large enough to carry five people in comfort, while its wheelbase of 2,837mm allows best-in-class legroom. Luggage space is 563-litres with the rear seats in place, rising to a 1,557 litres when the rear seats are folded.
In the UK, the Arteon range will initially feature three turbo charged direct injection engines: a 280bhp 2.0 TSI (petrol) and two 2.0 TDI (diesel) engines with outputs of 240bhp and 150bhp. In due course, additional engines will complete the range including Volkswagen’s new 150bhp 1.5 TSI (petrol) Evo unit, featuring cylinder deactivation technology and a 190bhp 2.0 TSI (petrol).
All the transversely mounted four cylinder engines can be combined with a DSG seven-speed gearbox while the most potent units also boast Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. All other models have front-wheel drive.
The Arteon is expected to hit the showrooms across the UK starting next month.
