Volkswagen and LG have entered into a three-fold agreement in an attempt to introduce a futuristic technology that enrich human lives. The technology will operate on a cloud-based service platform. The newly announced collaboration comes forth as the latest one in the automotive world. Recently, Volvo has teamed up with Ericsson to stream your favorite TV show in the car, then you have the BMW, Intel and MobiEye collaboration who expect to bring a fully autonomous car by 2021.
Working in a phased manner, the first stage will see the two companies working towards connecting VW cars to smart homes. This will allow car owners to monitor smart devices in their home, be it turning on the lights or turning on the heaters before arrival. Secondly, the new technology will help in introducing messaging into the car’s cabin. The messaging system will execute the function in a safe manner by ensuring cybersecurity and ensuring minimum driver distraction. Lastly, the agreement will focus on creating a new infotainment system that intuitively runs all the functions and features. The infotainment system will also come with a sat-nav system that will reflect hazards in the road and journey conditions.
Recently, Volkswagen had announced their plans to launch more than 30 fully electric vehicles by 2025. The company expects to sell about 2-3 million electric vehicle per year, thereby estimating to accumulate 25 per cent of the company’s total sales volume.
