- Volkswagen Ameo Pace debuts in India at Rs 6.10 lakhs
- New 1.0-litre petrol engine borrowed from the recently launched Polo Pace
- Based on mid-spec Comfortline variant
- Comes with afresh set of exterior and interior upgrades
- Misses out on touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera and rain sensing wipers
Volkswagen has launched the Ameo Pace in India at Rs 6.10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Based on the mid-spec Comfortline variant, the vehicle is offered with a smaller petrol engine along with new exterior and interior upgrades. Last month, the German car manufacturer had introduced the Polo Pace and the Vento Sport editions in India, and this new model further expands the company’s product line-up in the country.
Power under the hood of the newly launched Volkswagen Ameo Pace comes from a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that recently debuted in the Polo Pace. The new petrol engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission that generates 75bhp of power and 95Nm of torque. It comes as a replacement to the older 1.2-litre petrol engine. As for the diesel variant, it continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre TDI engine that generates 108bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The diesel version comes mated to a five-speed manual and a DSG option.
As for fresh upgrades, the new Ameo Pace gets black-finished outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), a carbon-fibre finished rear spoiler and new alloy wheel design. However, the new model misses out on the chrome elements on the grille and the bumper. Volkswagen has also excluded features like reverse parking camera, rain sensing wipers and touchscreen infotainment system in favour of a standard audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. Similar to other products in the company’s production line-up, the Ameo Pace gets dual airbags and ABS as standard.
The newly launched Volkswagen Ameo Pace will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Tata Tigor and the upcoming new-generation Honda Amaze.
