Volkswagen Ameo, an affordable sub-compact sedan from the German car manufacturer was initially offered in – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline variants. This time around, ahead of official announcement from the manufacturer, Volkswagen dealers have confirmed the availability of a new top-spec Ameo variant – the Highline Plus. The new variant is available in five-speed manual petrol, while the diesel is available with a seven-speed DSG transmission
Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus gets all the features from the Highline variant, while additionally offering only the 16-inch alloy wheels as standard. The new variant will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version comes with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that generates 74bhp of power at 5400rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm. The diesel version on the other hand gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TDI engine that generates 108bhp at 4000 rpm and 250Nm of peak torque between 1500-3000 rpm.
Volkswagen first introduced the Highline Plus variant in the Vento last year. The top-spec version offered new features and subtle exterior upgrades. The Polo and the Ameo are the latest ones to be offered in Highline Plus option. In comparison to Highline variant, the petrol Highline Plus costs an additional Rs 10,100, while the diesel costs an additional Rs 10,300.
