The new compact sedan from Volkswagen, the Ameo, has been spotted sans camouflage ahead of its official unveiling at the 2016 Auto Expo. The car is based on the Polo hatchback and will share it underpinnings, engines and feature list.
Photos reveal that the car gets a stubby boot with the same tail lamps from the Polo hatchback. The rear windscreen and C-pillar have now got a sharper rake due to the boot. In standard fashion, the Ameo gets the same side profile as the Polo right up to the C-pillar. Though there is no view of the front, we know that it will get a slightly modified version of the Polo’s fascia but now with LED DRLs on probably the top-spec petrol and diesel variants.
We can also see that the cabin will get the same beige interior as the hatchback and this is expected to include the beige with black combination for the dashboard. The Ameo will be the highlight of the Volkswagen stall at the 2016 Auto Expo and will be unveiled on day 1. We expect that it will go on sale a few months later and will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Zest and the Honda Amaze.
