Hyundai has posted growth in its sales numbers second month in a row, selling over 47,000 cars in the month of August across the country. Hyundai is upbeat after registering growth “in a market fuelled with speculations on the GST cess increase and challenges posed by floods in many states”.
The Hyundai Grand i10, the Elite i20 and the Hyundai Creta have been strong performers in their segments. The Grand i10 and Elite i20 have consistently registered sales of over 10,000 units every month with the Creta touching that mark occasionally.
Despite the ‘challenging market’, it is the Hyundai Verna that has boosted the August numbers as the C-segment sedan has attracted more than 7,000 bookings in less than 10 days after its launch in India. Hyundai has played well with the pricing ranging closer to the median of the segment rather than going in for the lowest price tag. This shows that the Korean car maker now banks on its slightly premium image when compared to Maruti-Suzuki to attract the customers despite not having the lowest priced car in the segment.
Hyundai’s August sales for 2017 have grown by nine percent over the sales in August 2016 and 9.5 per cent when compared to the sales of July 2017.
