Volkswagen USA has reportedly announced a recall for the 2015 Jetta. According to a few reports, as much as 50,000 units of the D-segment sedan have been called in due to issues with the halogen headlights.
In all probability, the headlights contain faulty software in the control module which could result in the low-beam shutting off when the high beams are engaged. In that case, the vehicles will fail to meet the FMVSS regulations.
According to Volkswagen, the situation can increase the risk of an accident. It is commendable then, that the brand has swiftly acted upon the situation and started notifying the owners of the 2015 models. Affected models will eventually benefit from a software update free of charge.
