The US-spec Honda Fit/Jazz’s (for the Indian market) price and feature list have been released by the Japanese automaker. The American market will get the premium hatchback in three variants, one petrol engine and two transmission options. The Jazz is one of Honda’s global cars and so the version sold in the US is very similar to the one we will get in India later this year.
The base variant Fit-LX has been priced at 15,525 USD (Rs 9.34 lakh) and has been fitted with power windows, central locking, rear view camera, Bluetooth Handsfree Link and a music system with four speakers.
The mid-level EX variant has been priced at 17,435 USD (Rs 10.49 lakh). It gets the features of the LX variant as well as push-button start, floor mats, two-din music system with six speakers and a 7-inch display and finally 16-inch alloy wheels.
The top-of-the-line EX-L variant in addition to the features of the EX variant gets heated front leather seats and a CVT transmission option. It has been priced at 19,800 USD (Rs 11.91 lakh). All three variants are powered by a 1.5-litre petrol unit that produces 130bhp and 154Nm of torque that sends power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or the CVT gearbox.
The US-spec Jazz even at the most basic variant will still have a higher feature list than the mid-level one that will be sold in India and this is mostly due to the American regulations and demands of the consumers. However, given how our consumer demands too have changed since the Jazz was last sold in India, we expect it to have an improved feature list when launched.
India will get the Jazz hatchback later this year with both petrol and diesel engines. The former is the 1.2-litre unit from the Amaze/Brio while the diesel is the 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit from the Amaze and facelifted City. The petrol will get the option of a five-speed manual/CVT while the diesel will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox.
