Mercedes-Benz has priced the CLA45 AMG sedan at 48, 375 USD (Rs 28.25 lakh) for the American market and is 18,000 USD (Rs 10.51 lakh) more expensive than a regular base-spec CLA. The compact sedan, based on the German automaker’s MFA front-wheel drive platform and derived from the CLA sedan, was unveiled at 2013 New York Auto Show. It is range topper in the CLA line up.
The Affalterbach tuners have already revealed their intentions to transform their portfolio to a full all-wheel-drive line up and the CLA45 follows this new ideology. The CLA45 is strapped to an all-aluminum four-cylinder engine which makes 355bhp at 6000 rpm and 450Nm of torque at 5000 rpm thanks to a BorgWarner twin-scroll turbocharger.
Power is transmitted to the drive shafts via the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic found on the A45 AMG, while the exhaust system holds a butterfly valve that subtly alters the exhaust note in different driving modes.
AMG has reworked the suspension with stiffer springs, dampers, bushings, and front knuckles. That clubbed with larger anti-roll bars, a solid-mounted rear subframe, and bigger ventilated and perforated brake discs the CLA45 AMG does 0-100kmph in roughly 4.6 seconds.
The CLA45 AMG shares its interior design and feature list with the other models based on the MFA platform like the A-Class and the B-Class.
