British premium small car brand Mini has been in the American car market for 12 years now. And in that time, the company has enthralled discerning and trend-conscious buyers with its iconic driving characteristics and rich history.
Like the original Mini, the latest-generation models successfully deliver driving experience that is unique in the small car segment. The newest of the lot is the 2015 5-door Mini which is scheduled for its US premiere at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, later this month.
This new model has two additional doors as well as more space for both occupants and luggage. Interestingly, this means that for the first time in its 55-year history, Mini is now representing itself in the small car space with a 5-door model.
With a wheelbase that has been extended by 72 millimetres, the boot is now around 30 per cent larger than that of the 3-door model, displacing 278 litres. With the 60:40 split rear seat folding feature, the boot space can be increased to as much as 941 litres.
In the US, the new model will be available in the form of the Cooper 5-door and the Cooper S 5-door. The Indian market, too, will get the 5-door version which will be sold alongside the standard 3-door Mini. Full details on the both these India-bound models will be revealed during the official launch which is scheduled for November 19, 2015.
