Nissan yesterday silently launched a new top spec facelifted XV S variant for Rs 10.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It had updated its official website to include the external changes but did not provide a revised feature list. The Japanese automaker today launched the car and has now provided details of the updates to the MPV.
The major updates on Evalia come in the form of sliding windows for the middle row, sliding/reclining captain seats in the middle row and 15-inch alloy wheels in the top of the line XV variant. The 2-din audio system now comes with USB connectivity. Also on offer are rear wiper, rear defogger, anti-glare internal rear view mirror, front row assist grip and glove box lid.
A roof mounted second row AC blower will also be available as a direct dealer fitment option. These features are currently available only on the XV S variant but are likely to trickle down to the other variants over the course of the next few months.
The engine line up and underpinnings all remain the same as the current car and that means a 1.5-litre diesel mill that produces 85PS and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Evalia despite having oodles of space and a decent feature list has not been been a great seller for the Japanese automaker. It is likely that Nissan banking on this model to make its presence felt in the competitive MPV segment. The Nissan Evalia competes with the Chevrolet Tavera, Toyota Innova and the Tata Aria.
