The Scorpio is Mahindra’s most popular model and it is due for a complete makeover. The company has been testing the updated model rather extensively for the last few months as spy photos continue to pour in, this time showing the interior in detail.
Going by this latest set of photos, Mahindra is aiming to make the Scorpio more appealing to a wider range of buyers, and this includes D-segment car buyers. The new interior, as a result, looks more premium than ever and boasts of a lengthy equipment list. For starters, the dual tone dashboard is more angular in the way it has been layered and features a lot of premium touches.
The photos show a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with a rear-view camera display, automatic climate control and the XUV 500-derived steering wheel. Thankfully, Mahindra has repositioned the power window switches from the dashboard to the doors; something that has always been more convenient.
Mechanically, the updated Scorpio is expected to retain its 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 120bhp of power and 290Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox could be on offer. The new Scorpio is expected to go on sale sometime during the festive season. Expectedly, the much improved SUV will be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model.
