Updated Ford EcoSport variants explained

Ford launched the updated EcoSport for the Indian market in the price range of Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 10.44 lakh. The cosmetic changes are minor but the diesel mill gets a 10bhp higher power output than the earlier model and the manufacturer has also added new features to the car.

Earlier, the compact SUV was only available in Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium(O) variants. The manufacturer has renamed the top-end to Titanium+ and added another Trend+ variant. Summing up the petrol and diesel variants of the revised EcoSport, there are in all 11 variants now.

Ford EcoSport Ambiente

Petrol 1.5L Ti-VCT - Rs 6,79,563

Diesel 1.5L TDCi - Rs 7,98,144

This is the base variant of the EcoSport that gets front power windows, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering, electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn-indicators and all of the features that were offered with the earlier variant. In addition, a 12V power socket is now available in the front and the rear seat-back folds down fully.

Ford EcoSport Trend

Petrol 1.5L Ti-VCT - Rs 7,75,363

Diesel 1.5L TDCi - Rs 8,70,244

Ford has now offered ABS and EBD as standard starting from this variant. The other features remain unchanged from the previous model.

Ford EcoSport Trend+

Petrol 1.0L EcoBoost - Rs 8,53,363

Diesel 1.5L TDCi - Rs 9,18,244

This is a new variant added by Ford with which headlights with signature light guides, fog lamps, chrome grille and silver painted roof rails are available. The cabin gets dual front airbags, automatic climate control, distance to empty, outside temperature display, econometer, average speed and average fuel efficiency.

Ford EcoSport Titanium

This variant additionally gets the Smart Keyless entry with push button start that was not offered in the same variant of the earlier model. The automatic is offered in this variant only, so prospective buyers have no other choice but to opt for this trim. There are no changes and it continues to be offered with side and curtain airbags, Hill Assist, EBA, ESC and TCS etc.

Ford EcoSport Titanium+

Petrol 1.0L EcoBoost - Rs 9,89,463

Diesel 1.5L TDCi - Rs 10,44,344

This is the top-of-the-line variant of the EcoSport that comes equipped with all the equipment and features. The features are the same as before but the car now gets automatic headlamps, non-LED daytime running lights and rain-sensing (automatic) wipers. The cabin boasts of an interior chrome pack that includes chrome embellishments for inner door handles, cluster rings, cluster applique, tips on power window switches and the AC regulator. The interior also gets a leather-wrapped handbrake and an electro-chromatic inner rear view mirror.

The new Trend+ variant is not available with the 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol engine, but is good for people opting for the 1.0L EcoBoost petrol or the 1.5L TDCi. However, we would recommend buyers to opt for the Titanium variant which comes equipped with many features. More importantly, Ford has played well on the safety front by providing dual-airbags, ABS, EBD and many more such safety features in this trim.
