BMW Group recently announced a new model offensive by the end of next year. Following this announcement, BMW has now disclosed a clear roadmap of the new vehicles in their interim report. As a part of updating their product line-up, the 1 Series hatch and the 2 Series Active Tourer were spotted with minor camouflage just recently. Next in line was the full-blown M2, which too was spotted undergoing tests. However, ahead of its official release, a few images of the updated M2 have surfaced online, revealing the few nips and tucks the M2 has undergone.
And if these images are to be believed, all the updates on the new M2, in a typical BMW fashion, are the 'blink and you'll miss it' kind. Similar to the updated M4, the new M2 receives minor cosmetic tweaks. A keen eye will notice the newly designed headlight signature with full-LED adaptive headlights. The new headlight signature is edgier than before, similar to the elder 4 Series sibling. And at the rear, the tail lights sport a new design with a dash of LED aesthetics. Apart from that, there seem to be no alterations whatsoever.
There are no interior images available yet, but the updated M2 is likely to benefit from the new “Multifunctional Instrument Display” with chrome and electroplated inserts all around the cabin, double stitched dashboard, and new upholstery. Powertrain options are likely to be carried forward with slight improvements in efficiency figures.
The update for the M2 comes after two years of its introduction. The new sports coupe will be revealed later this year, and the tweaked cosmetic updates would follow in the lower variants of the 2 Series family as well.
After the M4 CS at the Auto Shanghai, the M2 is the next likely candidate to go under the CS hammer. With less weight and more power, the M2 CS is the most anticipated performance car from the Bavarian carmaker.
