Toyota has anounced an updated version of the GT86 with minor modifications that is slated to be launched in Europe this summer. The GT86 was introduced in 2012, but the Japanese car maker’s engineering team continued the development work.
The updated car gets stiffer front suspension and rear suspension, the increased rigidity helps the car with stable damping and improved friction control and better handling. The changes also help reduce body-roll and the steering now is said to be sharper in response than before.
“There is no reason that development should stop, only because the vehicle has gone on sale. GT86 is all about driver involvement, and we are committed to keep enhancing this aspect of the car. The 2015 Model Year delivers the latest status of GT86’s continuous evolution,” said Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada.
The car doesn’t get too many cosmetic changes as the exteriors get a shark-fin antenna to improve the aerodynamics. The updated car gets two additional colours, pearl white and silver. Inside the cabin, it gets carbon-fiber motif dashboard inserts.
The Toyota GT86 was on display at the Auto Expo 2014, but there was no indication on its launch in India. However, the enthusiasts would love it and could also boost the image of the manufacturer in India. We want Toyota to offer this car here, are they listening?
