It has been a while since Tata started the development and testing of its budget hatchback - the Kite. Now, a new rendering of the Tata Kite has been circulating on the internet, giving us a glimpse of how the hatchback might look like.
The Kite has been developed upon a heavily reworked version of Tata’s XO platform, which underpins the current Indica. Aesthetically, the Kite carries over the design philosophy from the Bolt hatchback, though it does get a different set of headlamps and bumpers to lend it a fresh look.
Under the skin, we can expect Tata to carry over the engine options and transmission from the Bolt and the Zest. And though the company hasn’t confirmed this yet, reports suggest that Tata might offer the Kite with new three-pot petrol and diesel engines.
The Tata Kite is expected to be priced in the Rs 4 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh price bracket, which should position it between the Nano and the Bolt. It will rival the other entry-level hatchbacks like the Datsun GO, Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Spark and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback.
