Contrary to previous reports indicating Renault India’s plans of bringing the Duster facelift with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, it’s now being revealed that the popular crossover model will be launched with an AMT gearbox.
Going by these spy shots from Autocar India, the Duster facelift is seen featuring Renault’s Easy-R AMT lever. This new gearbox technology was recently unveiled in models from Renault’s sister brand Dacia.
Up until now, the Duster was expected to feature Renault’s advanced 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. However, it seems Renault has opted for the AMT technology to keep the pricing competitive and overall costs down.
The AMT-equipped Duster is expected to cost around Rs 1 lakh more than the equivalent manual variant. Furthermore, the AMT option could be offered only with the 110PS, 1.5-litre diesel variant. When launched, the Duster AMT will mainly compete with the automatic version of the recently launched Hyundai Creta.
