In the year 2017, we have witnessed a wide range of car launches across segments in the country. Car manufacturers in the country are likely to end this year with the launch of four new models in December 2017. The list includes – the Volvo XC60, Range Rover Velar, Audi Q5 and the Mitsubishi Outlander. Here below is a brief description on each of the upcoming cars.
Volvo XC60
The new Volvo XC60 had been recently spotted on test ahead of its anticipated launch in December 2017. Based on what was seen, the new model has been styled using the same design language as the S90 and the XC90. The SUV gets Thor’s hammer headlamps and vertically slatted grille. The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is expected to produce around 235bhp of power. The eight-speed automatic transmission will power all four wheels. As for the interior, the SUV will get a Bowers and Wilkins audio system, Nappa leather upholstery and heads-up display.
Range Rover Velar
Post much wait, the Range Rover Velar is expected to be launched in December this year. The company has started accepting bookings for its upcoming SUV, which was also recently spotted on test in Goa. The Velar will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that generates 296bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. The SUV might also be offered with a 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder engine that generates 296bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Inside, the vehicle will get two 10-inch screens which will be mounted onto the vehicle’s dashboard. The one on the top will function as conventional infotainment system while the other can be used for climate control setting, terrain response and controls for seat cooling and heating.
Audi Q5
German car manufacturer Audi had revealed the new Q5 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The SUV in its latest iteration will be available in petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by a 2-litre TFSI engine that generates 249bhp of power, while the diesel gets a 2-litre TDI turbo engine that generates 188bhp of power. Both the engines come mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox and quattro AWD system as standard. Styling wise, the new Q5 borrows quite a few design cues from its bigger sibling, the Q7. The SUV gets new LED headlights and taillamps. Apart from the 19-inch rims as standard, the optional S-line exterior package offers 20-inch alloy wheels along with front and rear parking aid.
Mitsubishi Outlander
Japanese car manufacturer had listed the new generation Outlander on its website since August this year. The latest third generation model is a lot sharper and aerodynamic as compared to the older model. According to Mitsubishi, the prominent chrome-laden grille is aerodynamic which reduces the drag coefficient by seven per cent. The revised headlights are now sharper and include LED DRLs with the option of full LED headlamps. The SUV will be powered by either a 2.0-litre or a 2.4-litre four cylinder motor with an output of around 140-170bhp. The transmission would be a six-speed CVT with paddle shifters. The 4WD system will be standard with an ECO mode.
