Ford, as we know, is about to launch the all-new Escort in China this year. Designed and developed exclusively for the Chinese market, this upcoming new model is said to be targeted at "young and modern" Chinese families.
Expected to make its debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this month, the all-new Escort has been spied yet again, this time, without any form of camouflage. The latest spy shots give us our best look of this upcoming model which will be positioned below the Focus when it goes on sale in China during the second half of the year.
As seen in the spy shots, the production-spec model takes heavy design inspiration from the Escort concept shown at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. Mechanically, however, not much is known except for the fact that the power could be offered from either a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre unit or a 1.5-litre turbo petrol.
The new Escort is to be manufactured in China by the Chang’an-Ford joint venture. When launched, the car will be pitted against the likes of the Honda Crider and the Citroen C4L. For now, Ford has revealed that it will sell this new iteration of the Escort only in China, however, the brand could eventually offer it in other developing markets. Stay tuned for full details on the new Escort and all the other important cars heading for the 2014 Beijing Auto Show.
