Two union leaders from Mahindra’s Nashik Plant are currently on a hunger strike that has gone into its fifth day. Reports suggest that their main demand is for the management to sign an agreement for inflation linked wage revision and restriction of the agreement period from 3.5 years to three years. However, the company has said that the protest has not had an impact on production and that the protest was by some individuals and the union as a whole.
The plant at Nashik currently produces the Xylo, Bolero, Quanto and the Verito sedan and will most likely be location where the Verito Vibe will be produced. It employs 4000 personnel and produces 550 units a day.
