It sure looks like all the rumours about a two-door Range Rover being under development was true after all. What you’re looking at are the first shots of this prototype being tested on public roads.
A sharp eye can easily spot the true identity of this model since engineers haven’t done a great job of concealing the section where the rear door actually resides. Now, although the roofline remains unchanged, with the new design, one could see the window-line to be raked in an Evoque-style manner. Of course, we will have a clearer picture in future sightings as these early prototypes are bound to be tweaked.
That said, the camouflaged rear portion of the SUV successfully masks the true design details. All you can see are the exposed sections of the tail lamps, and the large exhausts beneath the rear bumper. You will in due course agree that this Range Rover isn’t just the regular model with two doors stripped from the equation. It also gets a differently shaped grille and the head lamp internals have been revised.
Sources state that the two-door Range Rover will find its place as the range-topper in the line-up and should possibly hit the international arena sometime in 2019.
