The resurrected British carmaker TVR is marking its return with a new V8 sports car. Speculated to be called the Griffith, according to recently trademarked named, the new 329kmph sports car will officially have a manual transmission as teased in the latest image revealed by TVR.
The first vague glimpse inside the cabin in the teaser shows a short-throw shifter stacked in the centre console. The rotory dials can be seen as well as the flick switches inspired from the Jetfighters. The all-black interior is expected to be well laid-out while being sporty at the same time.
The resurgent British sports car maker has been working on an all-new car since its revival in 2013 along with partners Gordon Murray and Cosworth. With the engineering involvement of Cosworth, the 5.0-litre V8 under the hood is expected to belt out an excess of 450 horsepower, though no official numbers are divulged yet. An extreme weight saving measure will involve an abundant use of exotic materials like carbon fibre and aluminium, lending the car a jaw-dropping power-to-weight ratio.
The design hand of Gordon Murray, who gave us the iconic McLaren F1, will ensure a retro-modern styling for the TVR. The 0-100kmph times are expected to be mind boggling (less than four seconds) with a stratospherical top speed.
As we reported earlier, the first 500 models will carry special edition attributes with a bigger price tag and extra exotic materials from Murray’s iStream Carbon design studio. TVR says these Launch Edition versions will be priced at under £90,000. The Surrey-based carmaker will take the wraps off the V8 sports car at this year’s Goodwood Revival next month. Stay tuned.
