Toyota’s next-gen Supra has been in the news longer than we can recollect, but now it seems this much-awaited sports car is well under development. The sports car has been spied testing yet again, this time attacking the Nurburgring circuit.
Like the previous Supra, the car’s highlight will remain its engine, in this case a BMW-developed straight six cylinder engine. However, previous reports suggest that Toyota could be experimenting with hybrid electric tech for added performance and efficiency. The next-gen Supra is also expected to come with Toyota’s first-ever dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
A lot is riding on this upcoming car given that the previous Supra is among the all-time great Japanese sports cars and is also a crowd favourite in most car communities. Toyota, as we know, has teamed up with BMW to develop the new Supra which will also spawn a Z4 replacement. Both these vehicles are expected to go on sale in the next couple of years.
