Toyota is developing an all-new crossover model based on the C-HR concept that arrived in Paris last year. Having already announced that the concept was Toyota’s priority for further development, these spy shots of a prototype are hardly surprising.
Toyota is targeting European customers; a market where crossovers have gained immense traction in terms of sales. With that in mind, the brand is working hard on making the C-HR look striking enough to compete with the snazzy looking Nissan Juke.
While the Juke boasts of a rather controversial styling, we can expect the C-HR to feature a comparatively fuss-free design to appeal to a wide array of buyers. As for the mechanical bits, the C-HR will adopt TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, with power coming from a four-cylinder engine paired to a CVT gearbox.
When launched next year or in 2017, the CH-R will slot below the RAV4 in Toyota's global range.
