Toyota will launch the Yaris sedan in May. The car will be available only as a petrol mill, but with automatic and manual transmission options. Bookings for the sedan will start from next month.
The Yaris sedan was unveiled and showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and is Toyota’s new C-segment competitor for the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. Of these, the City will be the Yaris’ biggest competitor and we have, in a spec comparison, already looked at how the City in the ZX CVT trim stands up to the Yaris in the VX CVT trim.
It will be offered only with petrol power, which in this case is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit producing 108bhp/140Nm and can be had with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed CVT. When launched, the Yaris will debut many first-in-segment features like the front sensors, roof-mounted rear AC vents and a powered driver’s seat.
We believe that Toyota will price the Yaris in the range of Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs.
