- Based on the Maruti e Vitara
- Gets two battery options
Toyota has exhibited the production version of the Urban Cruiser EV at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The new electric SUV is based on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and is expected to go on sale in India later this year.
The overall design of the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV remains true to the concept. It features a sharp nose section with U-shaped LED headlights, square-ish wheel arches, and LED taillamps with a black insert in the centre. The EV will ride on either 18-inch or 19-inch aero-optimised wheels.
The interior of the Urban Cruiser EV is identical to the e Vitara. It features the same dashboard with a dual-screen layout, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Besides, the Urban Cruiser EV comes equipped with a powered driver’s seat, automatic climate control, sunroof, reclining rear seats, JBL audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a wireless charger. Moreover, the EV also gets a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Powertrain
Like the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Toyota's electric SUV will also be available with two battery options: 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller battery will come paired with a single electric motor powering the front axle. It has an output of 142bhp and 189Nm of torque. The larger 61kWh battery will be offered in single-motor and dual-motor variants with outputs of 172bhp/189Nm and 184bhp/300Nm, respectively.
