- It is basedon the Maruti e Vitara
- Global debut in mid-2025
Shortly after the introduction of Maruti’s first all-electric model, the e Vitara, Toyota has taken the wraps off the all-new Urban Cruiser EV. This new electric SUV shares its platform, interior, features, and even design language with the e Vitara. Expected to go on sale in mid-2025 in European markets, we expect Toyota to showcase the Urban Cruiser EV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
On the design front, the Urban Cruiser EV boasts a strong resemblance to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara barring the redesigned fascia, different LED DRLs and headlamps, alloy wheels, tweaked rear profile, and of course the badging all around.
The similarities between the Urban Cruiser EV and the e Vitara extend beyond the exterior design. While the two vehicles have distinct appearances, the interior of the Urban Cruiser EV is nearly identical to that of the e Vitara, with the only difference being the Toyota logo on the steering wheel.
As for the features, the all-electric SUV gets dual screens for the infotainment and the instrument panel, wireless smartphone mirroring, sunroof, automatic climate control, wireless charger, electric parking brake with auto hold, ADAS suite, 360-degree surround camera, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
In terms of technical specifications, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will have two battery pack options – a 49kWh and a 61kWh unit. While the former will be offered in FWD guise, the latter will be exclusive to AWD iteration. Moreover, the total power output is rated to be up to 184bhp and 300Nm of torque.
