Toyota has teased sketches of the soft-top GT86 concept that will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. It seems that the concept will be used to gauge public opinion at the show, before moving the cabriolet to production.
The only sketch released shows that the concept has all the design cues from the GT86. The sketch does not reveal whether it is a hard-top or a soft-top convertible, as the roof is down. However, we expect it to be a cloth cover to keep the weight and the cost in check.
The convertible should ideally get the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit from the hard-top version. The company is also pressing ahead with the engineering tests of the prototype – possibly looking to roll-out the version as soon as possible, in case of positive response. The GT86 convertible will most probably get a green signal post Geneva and should be on sale early next year.
Toyota will also debut i-Road concept at Geneva, along with production ready version of the Toyota Auris Touring Sports.
