The Scion FR-S has been a popular name in European markets from 2012-2016. However, with the demise of Toyota’s hipster brand, the vehicle has now been renamed as Toyota 86 for the 2017 model year. The international market witnessed the popular 2 + 2 sports car only in one trim level, while this time around, the latest offering has been rechristened as the 2017 Toyota 860 Special Edition. The 860 nomenclature denotes 860 units finished in Halo White and another 860 in Supernova Orange, which has been exclusively offered for the special edition.
Based on the GT86, visually the 860 special edition gets black racing stripes, black side mirrors, a blackened rear spoiler and a black-chrome finish for the 17-inch wheels. As for the interior, the vehicle gets black leather with orange contrast stitching on the seats, dash, door panels, steering wheel, handbrake, and shift boot. Speaking of features, the 860 Special Edition additionally offers push-button ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control and heated seats. Additionally, it also comes with a larger 4.2-inch TFT screen with a g-meter and lap-timer functions in addition to trip information.
The GT86 from Toyota has not been the best performer in its segment, however it still has a loyal fan base over the years. The 860 Special Edition continues to be powered by Toyota-Subaru D-4S boxer 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that generates 203bhp in six-speed manual, while the six-speed automatic generates 198bhp of power. Expected to launch later this month, the vehicle will likely be priced from $29,155 to $29875 (Approx. Rs 19.39 lakh – Rs 19.86 lakh).
