We already mentioned about Toyota and Suzuki entering into a cross-badging agreement and in case you haven’t read it, you can find that story here. Toyota will be selling their version of the Baleno and the Brezza, and according to recent reports they plan to increase localization content for both the cars in a bid to make them even more competitive.
As far as the design-changes are concerned, the final changes are yet to be finalized and work is under progress. In a bid to reduce costs, Toyota will concentrate on localizing components and thereby aiding the ‘Make in India’ initiative. As for how soon the cars will begin rolling off the Toyota plant is still not clear and will be decided at a later stage.
On 6 February 2017, Toyota and Suzuki concluded a memorandum towards business partnership. Since then, the two companies have been exploring concrete projects for collaboration in areas including environmental technology, safety technology, information technology, and the mutual supply of products and components.
