With every 4th Toyota sold in Europe being a hybrid and with a sales-figure of over 78,000 petrol-electric Auris on the old continent, the next-generation Toyota Auris is going to be an extremely important model for the Japanese make.
What we have here are spy shots of an all-new car undergoing some late winter tests in northern Sweden. Till date, the prototype is a hybrid of another kind: a wild mix of parts of the old and the new generation Auris.
Once the new car is ready, it will be based on the TGNA platform. Engines and gearbox options are likely to be carried over from the still-new C-HR. We will have to wait for more details on the product as the development process moves on.
