Toyota’s racing arm Gazoo Racing is slowly but steadily entering the mainstream business at least at the concept stages. After the GR HV Hybrid Sports concept that debuted earlier this year, Toyota has put out a teaser - a radical silhouette of the GR Super Sport, all set to break cover in a month’s time.
The teaser outlines a Le Mans endurance-style race car, Gazoo’s forte. After its success in the World Endurance Championship which includes the 24 hours of Le Mans, Gazoo has received a lot of applause for its work on the TSO50.
The GR Super Sport seems to be the road-legal version of the TSO50 with its flowy racing fenders and the pillar-less round windshield. The long raked roofline and the rear spoiler popping out from the profile, the car looks fast even while standing still. Slung low to the ground, the GR Super Sport will certainly make sure that you can attack corners going all out.
It might also get the 2.4-litre turbocharged V6 engine, but certainly not as madly tuned as the one used in the WEC. Of course, it will be a hybrid setup and we would not be surprised if it goes to 100kmph in about three seconds.
