Two leading players in the global automotive market, Toyota and Suzuki announced their India partnership earlier last month. This time around, during their recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the heads from both the companies discussed their future alliance. Reports indicate that the discussion involved technological developments as well as business opportunities in the country under the government’s Make-in-India initiative.
This partnership between two strong automakers will bring-in mutual benefits. Toyota, with its global leadership in manufacturing and technology will gain from Suzuki’s strength in manufacturing small cars, especially in the Indian market. As for Suzuki, it will help them strengthen their knowledge on technological developments. Moreover, this will also help them achieve a high degree of localisation.
Toyota-Suzuki partnership ensures mutual supply of products and components. Both the companies will also collaboratively work towards developing technology for environment, information technology and safety. Additionally, the partnership will also bring in more employment opportunities in the country as well as open up scope for exports from the country. This might also mean that in future, feature loaded cars will also be attractively priced to stay ahead of the competition.
